Bert Sult, the name rings a bell, who is he? He is the architect behind many notable buildings around the Raleigh area. To name a few, the Jones Chapel at Meredith College, The Raleigh Municipal Building and Complex, Cary Medical Center, McNeil Point Shopping Center, the Whitaker Center, Ed Drive Medical Park.
Bert Sult, the painter? He is an artist you have seen for years. He regularly contributes to the Christ Church Art Show. Bert Sult has shown at Nicole’s Fine Art, the Roundabout Gallery, and the Village Art Circle Gallery. His love affair with the architecture of Europe results in romantic portrayals of historic street scenes and buildings, executed in transparent, flowing watercolors. His mastery of this difficult and unpredictable medium has culminated in his first solo exhibit at Gallery C, entitled “A Man out of Time: Bert Sult’s Watercolor Interpretations of Historic Architecture.”
Gallery C presents sixteen originals works by Bert Sult, executed on quarto, half sheet, and full sheet watercolor paper. Bert’s favorite subjects – London, Paris and Rome – are featured. A large North Carolina State Capital, an important example of Neo-Classical architecture, is a highlight of the show. Bert Sult’s style, loose and abstract/impressionistic, is sure to please.
