Gallery C Fine Art proudly presents an intimate exhibition showcasing the artistic legacy of the Speight family. This extraordinary collection, lovingly preserved by Elisabeth Speight, reveals the creative DNA that flows through two generations of painters: her father Francis Speight, mother Sarah Blakeslee, aunt Tulie Speight, and herself.
Francis Speight (1896-1989) was a celebrated American painter known for his lyrical landscapes and city scenes, who taught at the prestigious Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts after studying there from 1920 to 1925. His wife Sarah Blakeslee (1912-2005) was an accomplished landscape and portrait painter who studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Pennsylvania Academy, where she met her future husband.
This exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the private world of a family where art was not just a profession, but a shared language of love and expression. Each piece in the collection was carefully chosen and preserved by Elisabeth, creating a visual autobiography of artistic passion passed from one generation to the next.
From Francis’s contemporary realist landscapes of Philadelphia and Bucks County to Sarah’s skillful brushstrokes influenced by both impressionism and realism, visitors will discover how artistic vision evolves while remaining rooted in family tradition.
