Chuck Rose is a self-taught, professional artist and painter who has specialized in large-scale mixed-media paintings since 2002. A native of Tennessee raised in North Carolina, Rose now calls Raleigh home. His work is celebrated for its dynamic interplay of bold color and design with subtle, layered nuances that evoke powerful emotional responses and striking visual appeal.
Rose began painting at age 12, inspired by modern art masters such as Richard Diebenkorn, Franz Kline, Conrad Marca-Relli, and Ellsworth Kelly. These foundational influences continue to shape his artistic vision. Despite his early passion for art, Rose initially pursued a different path, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and spending 17 years in the corporate world. He later founded a high-end gardening and landscape company in Atlanta before returning to North Carolina to focus fully on his art.
His creative process reflects a unique synthesis of intuitive expression and analytical precision—a “left brain versus right brain constant battle.” Rose often leaves his pieces untitled, inviting viewers to interpret the work through their own lens. For him, the true subject is frequently the color itself—its texture, mood, and medium—rather than any literal reference. This approach fosters a direct and personal engagement with each piece.
Rose has exhibited his work in numerous exclusive showings across Raleigh, Atlanta, and Charlotte, earning a loyal base of collectors and patrons. His pieces are also regularly donated to civic and charitable organizations for auction, extending the reach and impact of his art beyond the gallery space.
